How to read it
Economic impact means estimated annual revenue of first-order product markets where an element is treated as a necessary input: steel for iron, cells for lithium, and semiconductors or solar modules for silicon. It stops after one hop to avoid stretching every element into a claim on world GDP.
Interesting estimates, not economic truth
The adapted dataset combines production and market sources from different 2025–26 editions. Values are shown in their source’s current-dollar basis and have not been normalized to a common price year. Market-size studies can disagree by multiples, while attribution is a judgment. Read the color band and confidence before the mantissa.
Unavailable is not zero
A hatched cell means there is no defensible priced extraction market in the source record—often because the element is synthesized atom by atom. It does not mean the element is useless or that its impact was measured as $0.

Records are adapted from Mino’s Financial Periodic Table, whose methodology cites USGS Mineral Commodity Summaries 2026, industry bodies, and market studies. Source titles shown in each profile are compact citations, not independent verification. Human review is still required before using these figures in research or decisions.
